Service, honor and integrity

The Port Orchard Eagles were pleased to have hosted Port Orchard Police Chief Matt Brown to their 17th annual First Responders Dinner on Sept. 14.

The police chief shared and explained the department’s core values — service, honor and integrity. Matt, his officers and staff plan to serve our community in “an impartial, courteous, responsive, efficient and humble manner.” They see their badges as “symbols of public faith,” and they will be “honest and truthful” in their words and actions, while doing what is morally, ethically and legally right.

Chief Brown also asked those in attendance for input about their areas of concern. Welcome to Port Orchard, Matt! You round out a fantastic team of first responders who enjoy strong, effective leadership from Kitsap County Sheriff Gary Simpson and South Kitsap Fire and Rescue Chief Steve Wright.

I offer my best wishes, as do the Eagles and the citizens of Port Orchard.
