With the Dems come tax hikes | Bremerton Patriot Letters to the Editor

Albert Einstein once said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I’ve lived here for more than 14 years. I am amazed each election cycle to see the same Democrats re-elected after everyone I hear from complain about all of the additional taxes and spending the taxpayers here have shouldered as a result of the policies of the very same Democrats.

North Kitsap Herald Letters to the Editor | Nov. 1

NK community pool Pool coordinator welcomes all As the new coordinator of the North Kitsap community swimming Pool, I would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support of our pool. Having only been here a few weeks, I’ve felt nothing but acceptance and warmth from this community and none more so than from the pool patrons. You should also know that there is an outstanding staff of lifeguards and water safety instructors at our pool – they are exceptionally well trained and positive people who work well together to make our pool safe and fun to visit.

Hit-piece mailers debase our elections

I’d like to express my opinion of the political mailers Charlie Bermant reported on in his Oct. 25 article, “Abel, Angel backed by ‘soft money’… Continue reading

Why must we die in agony?

North Kitsap Herald Letters to the Editor | Oct. 29

Governments in Bainbridge, Kitsap and Olympia are in varying degrees of meltdown and befuddlement. Truth be told, our 23rd Legislative delegation of Appleton, Rolfes and Rockefeller chart toward more abysmal finances and clouded vision.

GOP’s bag of dirty tricks

The Kitsap commissioner’s race for District 2 parallels state and national GOP for dirty tricks. For Republicans, these races are about power and promoting Republican ideology.

Rossi’s economic policy is scary

Rossi isn’t as stupid as Bush, he is, however, a Bush-style economic conservative who would rather see bridges fall into the river than know he has paid $1 more for maintenance. These guys’ economic policies are scary. By contrast, having spoken with Gov. Gregoire at Legislative Days, I found her very impressive. Sure the economy isn’t impressive, but when you realize the other Washington has led us into the toilet, I am so thankful that we had Gregoire as a governor.

Jack Hamilton’s ideology is an inadequate substitute for knowledge

Jack Hamilton’s Sound-Off (“The end is not near (except for some government officials), Oct. 4) was more off the mark than soundly on it. If nothing else, Mr. Hamilton showed once again that ideology is an inadequate substitute for what was once described as profound knowledge.

Washington has earned my vote

Walt Washington is our county auditor and he has been endorsed by retired auditor Karen Flynn. As a mater of fact, Flynn would not have retired when she did if Washington wasn’t perfectly capable of doing the job in a trustworthy, efficient and transparent as well as non-partisan way, with the highest possible ethical standards.

Garrido has integrity

I had the pleasure of getting to know Charlotte Garrido this past year. Her commitment and personal loyalty to this county made a deep impression on me. She is a person of integrity, whose strong sense of commitment to Kitsap County will serve all of us very well.

Time to vote out corrupt politicians

You would think if the Democratic platform of socialism, redistribution of wealth, with a tax and spend policy was so inviting there would be no reason for voter registration fraud.

Helpful tips for pet owners

Halloween can be a festive and fun occasion for children and families, but for family pets, it can be a stressful and even dangerous time of year. PAWS of Bremerton offers pet owners some common sense tips to help keep their pets safe during Halloween:

Vote yes on Initiative 1000

When you’re 30 years old feeling young and virile it is easy to feel offended that someone would seriously consider their own suicide. It’s easy to feel self-righteous, sanctimonious and above such a religiously offensive idea.

North Kitsap Herald Letters to the Editor | Oct. 22

I am tired of hearing the closed-minded, one-sided views of Adele Ferguson. She has offended enough of us too often and it is time for her to move on. I know creating emotion from an article is the sign of a good writer but she only causes us anger and this latest article left me steaming.

Letters: North Enders sound off on presidential candidates

Decision 2008Everyone is to blame for meltdownThe key fact about the greatest American financial meltdown in 79 years is it's bipartisan nature. Both the Democrats… Continue reading

“Follow the money trail” can tell you a lot about a candidate for public office and to whom they owe their allegiance. State House of Representatives candidate Kim Abel has accepted thousands of dollars from five Washington Indian tribes. One of her tribal contributors received exclusive use of 200 feet of our Port Orchard waterfront thanks to a backroom deal with the well-noted Port of Bremerton.
