Our children deserve a 21st century education

On Feb. 13, the North Kitsap community will have a chance to reaffirm their support of schools and students by approving two levy measures. Given that state funding does not cover the actual cost of providing education and maintaining facilities, I am inspired by the way our community always steps up to make the difference.

With the arrival of the new superintendent, Dr. Evans, and her energy, passion and vision, I am more optimistic than ever about the future of NKSD students. But we can’t put off repairs, improvements and a stable funding plan. We need to continue to invest in a competitive education system that attracts the best educators and prepares our students for success in school and beyond.

Our children deserve a 21st century education with robust programs and safe and healthy buildings with modern technology. I will be voting “Yes for NKSD kids”!
