Military honors were given to Private Zachariah M. Stucker when his remains were brought to the Veterans Home Cemetery, through the Missing in America Project, which helps facilitate the location, identification and interment of fallen heroes whose remains are already in America. Stucker, a Civil War veteran, died in 1914 at the age of 69; his body was cremated in Seattle where it remained for 103 years before being returned to Kitsap County.
