Are you ready to party, Port Orchard?

If so, Perfect Partys is the place for to find everything from stemware to barbeques.

It’s a well-known staple in the community, having been in different locations around town for about 20 years. Now located on 1230 Street, its mission remains the same, but the ownership has changed.

Malissa Fyffe, a 2001 South Kitsap High School graduate, took over in March after working for the previous owners for about 18 months. When they started talking about getting rid of some of the inventory and possibly consolidating, she inquired about buying the store.

Now, her days are filled with weddings, parties and other event rentals.

“We do tables, chairs, glassware, stemware, canopies,” she listed. “We even have barbecues and rotisseries.”

And if they don’t have a big enough canopy, it’s easy enough to put two together.

Everything is pretty much made to order, Fyffe said.

“We can do anything from a small dinner party — we’ve had people where it’s their anniversary and they want a nice setup with some nice linens to make their loved one feel extra special — to 300- or 400-count weddings.”

And logistics dictate that large parties comprise the bulk of their business.

“They’re a good majority because a lot of the stuff we have people need during wedding time,” she said. “They don’t want to purchase 200 or 300 dishes they’re never going to use again. It’s just more cost effective.”

While office parties and bar mitzvahs are common year-round, people also come in to rent equipment during the holiday season.

“They don’t want to wash their dishes because they have too many people coming over,” Fyffe said.

It’s something that Fyffe and her staff have no problem doing. While they don’t do the food-preparation side of catering, they provide items that keep food warm and cold.

“I’ve already gone to Sequim and Port Angeles twice this month,” Fyffe said. “We pretty much cover the whole peninsula. If they needed us to go to Tacoma or Seattle, we’ll go.”

In addition to standard equipment, the store also carries a large selection of balloons and party accessories such as invitations and pin the tail on the donkey.

Perfect Partys is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Set notice is not required for such events as weddings, but availability is not guaranteed.
