McDonald’s Corp. has been hiring both locally and across the country as part of a hiring day earlier this month, in which a total of 50,000 new employees will be hired nationwide in the next few months.

Headquarted in Oak Brook, Ill., McDonald’s has 16 locations with more than 700 employees in Kitsap and the North Olympic Peninsula that are owned by a local franchise, said Paisley Madison, spokeswoman for the company’s northwest region.

In the state, 84 percent of the locations are independently owned and operated by local franchises, she said. At the seven restaurants located in Silverdale and Bremerton, 30 positions will be hired, with many of them already filled. But, the franchises are always looking for crew-level or management positions, Madison said.
