Kitsap Bank, with headquarters in Port Orchard, was one of five Washington state companies recognized with the award of the National Association of Secretaries of State Medallion.

The award was given to Kitsap Bank and other companies for their “outstanding work to improve lives in Washington communities.”

Kitsap Bank is a family-owned business for 111 years that have donated $445,000 to nearly 100 nonprofits in 2019, another $30,000 to small businesses that demonstrate a commitment to community and provide free fraud prevention and financial literacy training to the public, according to the Office of the Secretary of State’s Corporations for Communities Award Program.

“Year after year, I continue to be in awe of the selflessness and sense of community demonstrated by our award recipients,” said Kim Wyman, Washington state’s secretary of state.

“These organizations go above and beyond to help those in need, and I am honored to celebrate them with our Corporations for Communities award.”

The Office of Secretary of State oversees a number of areas within state government, including managing state elections, registering corporations and charities, and governing the use of the state flag and state seal. The office also manages the State Archives and the State Library.

Smith promoted to branch manager

Jackie Smith has been promoted to branch manager of its Bethel and Lund bank in Port Orchard.

Smith replaces Ellen Aguinaldo, who retired last month after nearly 30 years at Kitsap Bank, 19 of those years at the Port Orchard branch.

The new branch manager joined the bank in 2011 as a client service specialist. Her most recent position was as assistant branch manager for the Bethel and Lund location.
