Kitsap Bank announces 2013 scholarship recipients

Kitsap Bank presented 14 scholarships to the sons and daughters of employees who are graduating from high school and pursuing higher education.

Kitsap Bank presented 14 scholarships to the sons and daughters of employees who are graduating from high school and pursuing higher education.

Among this year’s scholarship recipients are South Kitsap High School High School graduates, Jonah Hoffman, son of Amy Jo Fiery; Alana Johnson, daughter of Tonia Johnson; and Alexis A. Smith, daughter of Linda Smith.

“We are pleased to be able to provide scholarships to such deserving students, said Steve Politakis, the bank’s chief executive officer. “At Kitsap Bank, we feel that education is important, and are happy to help our employees’ children reach their educational goals.”

Hoffman has a passion for baseball, and plans to continue playing in college. He plans to attend Olympic College to pursue a business and marketing degree.

Johnson has been on the Honor Roll, Dean’s List and 100-Percent Club at South Kitsap High School. She obtained her associates degree from Olympic College through the Running Start program and plans to transfer to a four-year university.

Smith is a honor roll student and an active member/treasurer in S Club, which assists women and children in local charitable events in the South Kitsap community. She plans to attend Washington State University, pursuing a degree in animal science.
