An 80-year-old Bremerton woman reported June 16 of a suspicious phone call she received that she believed to be a scam.

The woman, who resides on the 4400 block of Petersville Road NE, received the call from a man at about 4:07 p.m. and thought he was calling from a charity seeking donations. The man said he was not asking for money. He said he was calling from 9-1-1 and wanted to place her medical records online.

When the woman asked where he was calling from, he replied “Washington” and then clarified that he was from the country’s capitol. Realizing that it was a scam of some sort, the woman hung up the phone. She filed a police report so that other people would not be scammed.
