When did it become OK for a president to ignore the Constitution and the laws of the U.S.?
When President Trump wishes to initiate an executive order, like the 90-day ban on immigrants entering the U.S., his first concern should be “Is it legal to do?” That is why he has an attorney general, to advise him on what is and what is not legal according to our Constitution.
He did not like it when the attorney general, Sally Yates, refused to defend his illegal executive order, so he fired her.
When President Nixon fired his attorney general during the investigation into the coverup of the Watergate burglary, in hopes his illegal behavior would not come to light, he was surely on his way to being impeached — indicted — by the U.S. House of Representatives, followed by a trial and removal from office by the U.S. Senate.
It seems President Trump is looking for a “yes man” to all his wants and wishes, instead of an attorney general that will uphold our laws and our Constitution.
Maybe President Trump has forgotten about Watergate and the fall of President Nixon. He’s acting like an impetuous child.
So sad.
