John R. Roberts, 81

John R. Roberts of Kingston died Feb. 1, 2004 in Kingston. He was 81.

Roberts was born to Robert J. and Genevieve (McDermott) Roberts in Seattle on June 5, 1922.

He married Betty M. Kittleson in 1946 in Seattle.

Roberts graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years. He was a real estate broker with Roberts & Knapp for 25 years before retiring in 1986.

Roberts enjoyed baseball, being a private pilot, and serving as a volunteer fire commissioner of South Lake Tahoe, Calif. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Lake Tahoe, secretary of the Little League in Lake Tahoe and president of Babe Ruth in Lake Tahoe.

He was affiliated with the Congregationalist faith.

Roberts is survived by his wife Betty M. (Kittleson) Roberts of Kingston; son Robert J. Roberts of Shoreline; daughter Leslie J. Weiner of Burien; brother George A. Lowe of Seattle; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Charles J. Roberts.

Services will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 7 at the Kingston Community Center in Kingston.
