J. Robert Sutthoff

J. Robert (“Bob”) Sutthoff, died Oct. 19. He was 93.

Sutthoff was born May 10, 1916, in Cincinnati.

He attended his first year of secondary education at Xavier High School, and the next three at Elder High School. After graduation from Elder he went on to attend Saint Gregory, and Mount Saint Mary Seminaries. After leaving the seminary, Sutthoff enlisted in the Army Air Corps on June 9, 1942, and spent more than three years with the 19th Repair Squadron, receiving an honorable discharge on Oct. 16, 1945, and earning the rank of staff sergeant. After leaving military duty, he worked two years with Catholic Charities at Fort Scott Camp, Cincinnati. On Feb. 17, 1947, Sutthoff began a 28-year career with the F.B.I., retiring in 1975. From 1982-1975, he worked as a security representative with the Seattle Sonics.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances; and his six children: Anne, Margaret, Connie (Kelly), Catherine (Slaton), Elizabeth (Weyer) and James. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and.

The visitation, the recitation of the rosary, the mass of Christian burial was on Oct. 28 at Olaf Catholic Church in Poulsbo. Interment was in the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sutthoff’s name may be sent to Mount Saint Mary Seminary in Cincinnati.
