William Nielsen, 94
Eglon resident William Nielsen died June 28, 2005 in Poulsbo. He was 94.
Nielsen was born to Jens and Margaret Nielsen in Yankton, S.D. on Oct. 2, 1910.
He married Margaret Anderson on April 25, 1943 in Seattle.
Nielsen graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1928.
Nielsen worked for Fairbanks Exploration in Alaska in the 1930s and was a gold miner in the early 1950s. He ran a donut/coffee shop with brother Tom from the late 1950s until his retirement in 1974. He managed three hotels in Seattle, and for the last 10 years, owned and managed The Stratford.
Nielsen enjoyed traveling with his wife, growing berries, cutting and splitting firewood and playing with his four grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Nielsen of Poulsbo; sons Norman Nielsen of Eglon (Cindy Benson of Bremerton), Warren (Kyle) Nielsen of Eglon; brother Jerry Nielsen of Morton; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. July 6 in the Munger Chapel at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo. Memorial gifts may be sent to Martha & Mary Health Services, P.O. Box 127, Poulsbo, WA 98370.
