August Mueller

August “Gus” J. Mueller, 93, of Poulsbo and formerly of Norwalk, Calif., died on Jan. 16. Mueller was born in St. Louis, to August and Josie (Nixon) Mueller on Oct. 19, 1915. Mueller married Ruth L. Sharrock on Nov. 17, 1946, in Nevada. She preceded Gus in death in 2000. Mueller served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a flight engineer on the B-29 as well as a gunner. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal for his service. Mueller worked as an engineer in civil service. In his spare time, Mueller was a woodworking craftsman and mechanic.
Mueller was preceded in death by three siblings. He is survived by his son, Mike (Jackie) Mueller of Visalia, Calif.; grandchildren: Michael Eric (Amy), Curtis John (Kristy) and David Alan; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Grace, Clark, Avery, Luke and Wyatt.
