Jerid Sturman-Camyn

Jerid Sturman-Camyn died Nov. 24, 2007. He was 20.

He was born May 11, 1987 in Spokane to Koni Sturman Buell and Scott Camyn. He attended Tracyton Elementary School and Klahowya Secondary School in Silverdale.

Mr. Sturman-Camyn excelled in football and wrestling during his high school years — earning numerous athletic honors. He also was a scholar athlete. He was on the East-West All-State football team after his senior year. He also took second at the 2005 State Wrestling tournament, wrestling at 189 pounds. He was attending Eastern Washington University and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

He spent many hours hunting and fishing with his father and grandfather as well as teaching his five siblings how to fish.

Survivors include his mother Koni; stepfather Darcy Buell; father Scott; and stepmother Debbie Camyn. He had five younger siblings: Micah Buell, 9; Trista Buell, 7; Cassie Medlen, 18; Courtney Camyn, 10; and Madison Camyn, 6. Also surviving are his grandparents Larry and Alice Sturman; Jerry and Kathy Camyn; and Carol and Gale Van Hollebeke; his great-grandmother Elva Sturman along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Klahowya Secondary School, P.O. Box 8, Silverdale, WA 98383, in the name of Jerid’s Athletic Fund to offer financial assistance to student athletes.
