Supports Henden for House position 1

I had the privilege of attending the Hansville Q&A forum on Oct. 10. I found it embarrassing that Sherry Appleton, who has served for 10 years, had no major legislative bills — if any — that have become law. She consistently says her biggest pride is that she has worked 10 years on a bill to expunge misdemeanors from records and it will be a top priority to her in 2015.

When asked about I-594, she gave a very disjunctive and incomplete description of the Second Amendment to our U.S. Constitution. To the astonishment of the attendees, she even said the state could “really do nothing” with respect to illegal immigrants in Washington, but instead, that was a problem for the federal government.

Washington state is now ranked one of three states in the nation that has an increase in poverty and we are ranked ninth in the nation with respect to taxes burdens, yet we continue to allow our state Legislature to be dominated by the same party of people who do not have a grasp of the issues and have done little to change the course of this state.

Alternatively, Scott Henden is a real candidate for Legislative District 23 and I encourage voters to choose him. Appleton has shown little promise and insight into policies and legislation that will actually redirect our state economy.

Henden is a lifelong member of Kitsap County and has owned and operated Henden Electric for 30 years — proof that he understands business, a budget, and the average working family.

I am and will continue to be impressed with this man — his character, bearing, demeanor, and integrity — who should (and I believe will) have a future in the direction of our state.
