Veterans Bunkhouse needs your help

In Washington state, there are anywhere from 4,000 to 6,800 homeless veterans, according to a state study.
About 50 percent suffer from addictions, about 45 percent deal with mental health issues.
Much talk has been made about society’s debt to those who have served, and what the state and federal government can do to help.
That hasn’t been good enough for Dennis and Mickie Olds. The couple has reopened the Veterans Bunkhouse Service Center on Rainier Avenue in Bremerton. It has room for more than 40 veterans who need and deserve help to get their lives on track.
The community not only owes a debt to the service members who will hopefully take advantage of the housing and services the center offers, but also to Dennis Olds.
Bremerton is a richer place for having people who take the initiative to reach out and help others.
There are ways to be involved in the center, to ensure it can remain viable and serve veterans.
