Winds batter Kitsap County; 14,345 customers without power in Port Orchard

Winds approaching 45 miles an hour have disrupted power to 14,345 Port Orchard homes this afternoon, according to Puget Sound Energy.

Much of Kitsap County, as well as portions of King County, have been hit hard by the stormy, windy conditions.

As of 5:00 p.m., more than 57,000 customers were without power due to high winds. The majority of outages are in Kitsap, Thurston, Pierce and South King counties. Kitsap County has sustained the most damage so far.

Bremerton and Bainbridge Island also are suffering significant power outages.

PSE reports that they expect power to be restored to affected Port Orchard areas by 5:30 p.m.
