Olympic running back Chace Webster’s historic season continued Oct. 30 in a 46-6 home win against Port Angeles, as the senior broke the school record for rushing yards in a season, eclipsing Larry Dixon’s total from 2008.
Webster’s 229 yards for the game put him at 1,928 yards on the season, breaking Dixon’s record of 1,840 yards. He broke the record on a 37-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
“That’s really been my biggest goal, because last year I told coach Keven Smith [Olympic’s O-line coach] that I wanted to break Larry’s record and hit 2000,” Webster said. “It’s crazy to me because he’s held that record for 17 years, and nobody’s really come that close to breaking it, and it’s really a blessing to break it,” Webster said.
Dixon had a standout career as a Trojan, finishing his high school career as the West Sound all-time leading rusher at 5,182 yards. He later went on to play for the University of Army.
Additionally, Webster also scored five touchdowns in the game, giving him 34 on the season. The Trojans finished the season 8-1 overall and won the Olympic League by going 6-0. The Trojans open the playoffs at home Nov. 7 with an opening district game against Chief Sealth at 6:30 p.m.
