As summer winds down in Kitsap County, one of the region’s most anticipated events returns: the Kitsap Fair and Stampede.
From Aug. 20 t0 24, Kitsap will celebrate more than a century of tradition, as the event showcases the best of local agriculture, entertainment and community spirit.
What began in 1923 as an agricultural hub has evolved into a vibrant celebration of community pride, drawing thousands each year.
This year’s musical lineup is a major draw, featuring:
● Thompson Square – chart-topping country duo Keifer and Shawna Thompson
● Afton Prater – rising star blending Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert vibes
● Dakota Poorman, Herndon Brothers, and LiquidHorse
● Local favorites like Sweet Justice, The Bootlegs and Kevin Wolfe
● Eclectic acts like Hook Me Up (jazz/swing), Mark Lewis Quartet, Infinity Project (Journey tribute), and Irish band Fire & Water
Circus acts also return with the Wenatchee Youth Circus while the popular carnival offers rides and games all in one area. Wristband Day is Sunday, Aug. 24 ($50 at the ticket booth).
Each day of the fair brings a themed celebration, with support from local businesses:
● Wednesday: Opening Day (Joyce Construction)
● Thursday: Military Day (Geico Local)
● Friday: Day at the fair (Kitsap Credit Union)
● Saturday: Kids’ Day – kids 12 and younger free (Haselwood Auto Group)
● Sunday: Seniors’ Day – ages 62+ free (Minder Meats)
Rodeo events kick off each evening at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, and at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Eight thrilling competitions – including saddle bronc, barrel racing, team roping and bull riding – lead up to the high-stakes Xtreme Bulls showdown on Sunday. Sponsors also rally behind the rodeo schedule:
● Wednesday: Opening Night (Agate Asphalt)
● Thursday: Patriot Night (St. Michael Medical Center)
● Friday: Tough Enough to Wear Pink (Kitsap Credit Union)
● Saturday: Kids’ Day Rodeo (Haselwood Auto Group)
● Sunday: Xtreme Bulls (Hanley Construction)
“The success of the Kitsap Fair and Stampede truly takes a village,” says Fair Manager Gregg Smith. “Our office staff and volunteers work tirelessly, and we couldn’t do it without the generous help of our sponsors.”
Beyond the arena, the fair’s heart lies in its people. One highlight is the Kitsap Junior Livestock Auction on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m., where youth from across the region showcase their livestock and agricultural skills. Supporters can bid in-person or online to invest in the next generation of farmers and caretakers.
“The fair is a place where people can showcase their talents, businesses and agricultural roots,” Smith says. “It reminds us of where we came from – and where we’re headed.”
To join in on the summer fun, tickets to each event can be purchased at kitsapfair.org.
