Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies helped take down a suspected methamphetamine lab in unincorporated Bremerton Sept. 25, which resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old man.

Officers with the Washington State Department of Corrections were serving an arrest warrant at a home in the 4200 block of NW Lakeview Drive around noon. When DOC officers located the man who was the target of the warrant in a canopy storage area and workshop outside the residence, they also spotted what appeared to be completed meth product and a methamphetamine manufacturing lab, per a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

DOC officers called 911 to request help from KCSO. When deputies arrived, they secured the scene and obtained a search warrant. Bremerton police also responded to the home to assist with a trained drug-detecting K-9 officer and handler. K-9 Officer “Mayhem” alerted on multiple areas within the canopy, indicating the presence of illegal drugs, per KCSO.

Deputies notified the Washington State Patrol, who dispatched a laboratory takedown team. Due to the potential risks of exposure to hazardous chemicals, the area was closed off while the team, wearing protective equipment, worked to secure evidence and remove the dangerous material.

Deputies took the suspect into custody on the DOC warrant. An investigation into the alleged meth lab is underway.
