Robbery suspect found dead of drug overdose

The man suspected of robbing the Food Mart & 76 gas station off Highway 3 in Gorst Oct. 16 has died of a drug overdose, a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office report says.

Police had been on the lookout for the man for weeks after he entered the Food Mart wearing a mask and demanded cash from the clerk at gunpoint. He took off in a red pickup with a large box containing cartons of cigarettes and a box of cash.

The truck, later confirmed to be stolen, was found Nov. 4 in Lakebay in Pierce County. The suspect was found dead in the driver’s seat.
