21-year-old arrested Sunday for allegedly strangling woman

A 21-year-old man was arrested Sunday in Bremerton after allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend following a “heated argument.”
According to the incident report, Jesse L. Marty, got into a heated argument with the woman on May 9 in Poulsbo before grabbing her throat with both of his hands and slamming her onto the hood of a car. The victim stated to authorities that Marty had a history of unreported violent assaults against her.
She started to pack up her belongings with her one-year-old son to try and get in the car and leave, but Marty allegedly pulled out his BB-Gun and told her he was going to kill her before firing a shot off into the ground.
The victim then slapped him, to which Marty reacted by strangling her, the incident report states. The victim told authorities that Marty was strangling her for more than 10 seconds until two witnesses pulled him off of her. She then got in her car and drove to a Poulsbo Chevron where she called 911 for help.
When authorities arrived to speak with the victim, she claimed Marty had slapped her and grabbed her very hard many times before, but never attacked her like this. The two male witnesses didn’t provide much additional detail to what happened, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. When asked by authorities if they knew where Marty was, they said his car was gone and that they did not know where he went.
Marty, a Bremerton resident, was arrested Sunday, May 12, by the investigating sheriff’s deputy around noon at Bremerton National Airport, according to Scott Wilson, KCSO Public Information Officer. He was booked into Kitsap County Jail shortly after on a single charge of assault in the second degree (domestic violence). Marty is currently being held on bail for $75,000.
