BREMERTON – An autopsy is planned today on a 9-year-old boy who died Tuesday morning at a home in the 11400 block of Symes Road Northwest in Seabeck. A 47-year-old woman, believed to be his mother, is scheduled to appear in court at 3 p.m. today on a charge of second-degree murder.

The woman was arrested Tuesday evening and booked into Kitsap County Jail, with initial bail set at $1 million, the sheriff’s department reported.

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue emergency responders went to the home at 6:58 a.m. Oct. 31 in response to a 911 call. Kitsap County sheriff’s officers also went to the scene. Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson said at the time that officers “felt the situation was suspicious enough that they requested detectives to respond.”

Wilson said the boy’s mother and father were present in the house, and the father made the 911 call. Detectives received a warrant to enter and search the residence with the assistance of the Washington State Patrol Criminal Investigation Division. A forensic pathologist went to the scene to help determine the boy’s cause of death and assist in examining the scene.
