Police, community relations good locally

It was very satisfying and encouraging to read the article, “Reflecting on police roles in today’s society” (page A10, July 22 Bremerton Patriot).

The article was written by Police Chief Steven Strachan, and I’m glad he wrote such a positive piece. I feel that the media puts all too much emphasis on finding negative and horrific news to report on.

Chief Strachan’s article is much welcomed, and I believe a lot of your readers would say the same thing.

By the way, as I ride my bicycle around town, it’s encouraging to note that police officers from time to time now wave at me with a smile when I meet them on the street. It’s a good sign that police and community relations may not be as bad as the typical media coverage would suggest.

Truly, we’re all in this together, and we need to be reminded of that.
