The following cases were filed in Kitsap County District Court:

• A 45-year-old Port Orchard woman was charged with theft in the third degree after she allegedly stole a money bag from a safe while working at the Bremerton Elks Lodge. According to KCSO, a Jan. 10 security video shows the woman obtaining the safe combination and then opening the safe. The woman spent several minutes doing something with the safe. The angle of the video could not show exactly what the woman was doing, however. The woman then closed the safe. The next morning, another employee discovered one of the four bags was missing from the safe. The missing bag was thought to contain more than $400. The security video was reviewed and the 45-year-old woman was interviewed. She claimed that the reason she had opened the safe was that another employee told her the money bag was stuck in the slot and needed to be freed. But the other employee refuted that claim. Both the woman and her husband, who also worked at the lodge, were fired.

• An 18-year-old Silverdale man was charged with theft in the second degree after he allegedly tried to walk out of the Poulsbo Walmart with $1,280 worth of merchandise without paying for it.

• A 41-year-old Indianola man was charged with forgery after a Bremerton woman reported that she wrote a check for more than $1,200 to pay for taxes on her home. But the county called and asked why she hadn’t paid her taxes. The woman called her bank, and the bank told her the check was cashed to the man. It appeared that someone had washed out the “pay to” area of the check and changed the name.

• A 33-year-old Port Orchard man was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree and possession of oxycodone. Bremerton Police obtained a search warrant for the vehicle the man was using and allegedly found oxycodone pills that appeared to be ready for sale and also a stolen .45 Kimber Tactical handgun that had seven rounds in it. The man is a convicted felon.

Employees said the man put the items in a shopping bag and then walked out the door. A deputy stopped the man as he was driving in the store parking lot and recovered the items. The man said his brother needed a new pair of shoes, so he decided to steal some. Bail was set at $5,000.

• A 52-year-old Silverdale woman was charged with burglary in the second degree after she allegedly broke into a Poulsbo home and set off an alarm. Deputies responded and found her hiding in the closet with a flashlight, screwdriver and pocket knife.

• A 21-year-old transient was charged with theft in the second degree and assault in the third degree. The man was addicted to drugs and allegedly made more than $2,000 worth of unlawful charges to a Bremerton woman’s credit card. After being arrested he allegedly head-butted an officer.
