Donations will help Lions Club preserve eyesight

Thank you, North Kitsap,
The first weekend in May, for Lions Clubs, is the time to promote awareness of eye health issues.
Last weekend, you shared some of your stories with the Poulsbo Lions Club Evening Pride at the Kingston Albertson’s and Kingston Food Market during White Cane Days. You also let us tell some of our stories as you contributed $1,176.63 of your hard-earned money to help our neighbors.
These generous donations will be used locally for our various sight projects, including pre-school vision screening, eye exams, glasses for low-income individuals; and potentially for low-vision equipment, seeing-eye dogs, eye surgery, or cornea transplants.

Members of the Poulsbo Noon Lions and Evening Pride Branch Lions would like to thank the community for their generous support of this year’s White Canes Fundraiser. We collected more than $3,900 and 25 pairs of glasses for local sight needs.
A special thank you to our business supporters: Central Market, Poulsbo and Kingston Albertsons, Red Apple Market, Food Market in Kingston, Poulsbo Farmers Market, James Lumber, Liberty Bay Auto and North Kitsap Herald for their enthusiastic support of this successful event.
Lions will also be collecting for White Canes at the Viking Fest Pancake Breakfast at North Kitsap High School on May 16 and 17. A box will also be available to collect used eyeglasses, including non-prescription readers, non-prescription sunglasses and hearing aids.
