Bremerton port to host official from Taipei

BREMERTON — Bremerton port commissioners will host delegation of officials from Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, for a discussion of economic development opportunities April 30 at Bremerton National Airport.

The meeting, in the Bill Mahan Conference Room in the port administration offices, is open to the public.

The delegation will include Andy Chin, director general of the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Seattle; and six Taipei business leaders. According to a special meeting notice issued by the port, Taipei and Bremerton officials will “discuss economic development opportunities.”

The Taipei delegation will be welcomed at 9:45 a.m. by port CEO Jim Rothlin.

At 10:15 a.m., Kitsap Economic Development Alliance executive director John Powers will brief officials on Kitsap’s economy.

At 10:30 a.m., there will be comments by port commissioners, the mayors of Bremerton and Port Orchard, and U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer, D-Bremerton.

At 11 a.m., members of the Taipei delegation will comment.

At 11:15 a.m., the delegation will tour the airport and industrial park.

At 12:30 p.m., the delegation will have lunch at Port Orchard’s Lighthouse restaurant.
