Kitsap Rescue seeks donations for EMP trip

Published 11:05 am Friday, March 6, 2015

Kitsap Rescue Mission would like to take it’s “Fresh Start” group on a day trip to Seattle to explore the Experience Music Project to give them a break from their daily routine. But Kitsap Rescue could use a little help to make the trip possible.

The Fresh Start program is a two-year residential recovery and restoration program to help single men coming off the streets and out of addiction as they work toward restoration of body, mind and spirit through Christian-centered programs. Currently it is a small program with a maximum of only eight beds available, all of which are full at present.

The whole idea behind the trip is to get the men out of their normal everyday grind, to show them that Kitsap Rescue – and all generous donors out there – value them as human beings, and to teach them the value of rest in the midst of labor, both now and in the future when they leave the Fresh Start program and strike out on their own.

The date for the excursion is Friday, March 20. The group plans to take an early ferry from Bremerton to Seattle and then walk around Pike Place Market. Then the group plans to visit the EMP and spend most of the day checking out the displays there and also have lunch.

Kitsap Rescue is trying to raise about $350 to pay for this trip so the mission doesn’t have to take it out of their regular operations budget. To donate, send a check designated for “Fresh Start Day Trip,” or make a donation via PayPal (also designated for “Fresh Start Day Trip” at www.kitsaprescue.org), or by visiting our GoFundMe site at www.GoFundMe.com/FreshStartDayTrip.
