Thorn Cheyney died Sept. 5. He was born to Thorn Sr. and Marie Cheyney in Glenwood, Iowa. He graduated from Peninsula High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954.
Thorn married Ina Beglau in 1955. They had four children: Arlene, Debbie, Patty and Bruce.
Thorn was a pipefitter by trade and achieved the position of ships superintendent before retiring from PERA CV.
Thorn was preceded in death by his parents, Thorn Sr. and Ruby Marie; wife, Ina Fay; brother, Donald “Dode”; sister, Beverly; infant son, little Thorn; and son-in-law, Edd Bell.
He is survived by his children, Arlene (Jeff) Comer, Debbie Bell, Patty (Abe) Pallanes and Bruce (Becky) Cheyney; grandchildren, Chas (Sean) Brown, Amy (Toby) Kilham, Jesse (Kathy) Shaw, Noal Hall, Mike and John Bray; great-grandchildren, Briel, Emri, Hayzen, Chloe, Noah, Bo, Keenan, Roman, Anna, Oyrssa and Jorja.
