Representatives should serve their terms

Published 9:57 am Friday, August 3, 2012

In the recent past, Democrats Chris Endresen, Steve Bauer, Phil Rockefeller and Christine Rolfes quit their elected positions without finishing their terms. All quit to seek “greener” pastures.  Consequently, voters in these districts were governed by individuals they never elected.

In 2012, Democrat U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee also quit short of the end of his term.  His action will cost taxpayers almost $1 million for a November election for his one-month replacement.  Meanwhile, Washington state has been one representative short for eight months.

Voters, ask your candidate whether he or she will pledge to serve honorably to the end of term.  Demand that pledge of all candidates and hold them to it. Stop this debasement of our votes.
