Heronswood open to benefit Garden Conservancy | Kitsap Week

KINGSTON — Heronswood Garden in Kingston, now under ownership of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, will be open to the public July 28 to benefit the Garden Conservancy and Chase Garden.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. The address is 7530 NE 288th St., Kingston. The cost is $5 per person; children 12 and younger get in free.

No reservations are required and the event will go on rain or shine.

The 15-acre property is a private complex of botanical gardens founded in 1987. Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe staff say Heronswood provides an opportunity to share Native knowledge and culture with the broader community.

The gardens cover many different styles, from shady woodlands to sunny rock gardens, traditional double-perennial borders to vegetable gardens, arbor plantings and ponds. Art in the garden includes the work of Little and Lewis, Marcia Donahue, and Mark Bulwinkle.
