Local high school, middle school students take control (of ROVs)

POULSBO —  The North Kitsap Community Pool was filled Friday, but only a few of those in the water were human.

The second Remote Operated Vehicle demonstration and competition was held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students from both Kingston and Poulsbo middle schools and Kingston and North Kitsap high schools participated.

Students were charged with the task of building underwater vehicles out of materials from a kit. Once in the ROVs were in the pool, students were given a variety of challenges to accomplish.

The top teams in the challenge will compete against other schools in the Regional Competition June 2 at the Olympic High School pool.
