Residents helped firefighters raise $3K

Firefighters from the Poulsbo Fire Department want to extend their gratitude for the generous public support during the recent Scott Firefighter Stair Climb fundraising event at Central Market.

Firefighters spent two days climbing a stationary Stairmaster in full gear, rotating shifts. The total fundraising efforts brought in more than   $3,000 over the two-day period.

Proceeds from the March 11 stair climb (69 flights of stairs and 1,311 steps to reach the highly acclaimed observation deck overlooking Seattle) will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Even though the stair climb is this weekend, donations are still being accepted through March 30.

Firefighters finished up the weekend feeling great.  Firefighter Shane Keeley said, “We not only feel good from having exercised for hours, but also from having received such a tremendous outpouring of support from the community. I just really want Central Market and the community to know how much we appreciate all the support.”

On behalf of the firefighters, thank you very much!
