Kiss affirmed the sacredness of love

I take exception to James Oas’ letter expressing disgust over two Navy women kissing (“He’s gagging over photo of kiss,” page A4, Dec. 30 Herald).Far from a “kiss of death,” these women are affirming life and everything our soldiers and sailors are fighting for. Love is not a “lifestyle choice.” Love is sacred, whether it is a man and woman, two women, or two men.
We indeed legislate morality — that is what legislation is all about. We have decriminalized same-sex affection. We are many years from the days when such a kiss would land two women in jail.
You are certainly entitled to express your opinion, but don’t be surprised if people disagree with you.
