First Lutheran and Fishline thank helpers

Published 10:17 am Thursday, December 23, 2010

The Fishline Toy Drive and First Lutheran Church Toy Shop were able to help over 200 qualifying Poulsbo area families to make a Merry Christmas for their children. Parents were able to select toys for 488 children. The Poulsbo area individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations donated 3,553 toys, counting all the items including smaller stocking stuffers, too. Our Thrivent organization granted us $300 for toy shopping. With this extra help, we did not run out of needed toys and gift cards. Thank you all so much for your overwhelming support of this project.

Karen Timken, NK Fishline Director and Rae Rodriguez, NK Fishline Community Services Head, and their staff worked tirelessly to assist with the Toy Shop to make it a success. They did all the client qualifying and client scheduling to allow the Toy Shop to run smoothly. First Lutheran Church-Poulsbo provided most of the 65 volunteers; however, we had help from North Kitsap Baptist and North Point Church as well. Volunteers worked a grand total of 539.5 volunteer hours. Thanks to all the willing helpers! It was fun.
