Media missing a big story

The biggest story of this year’s election should be the fact that, thanks to our U.S. Supreme Court, corporations worldwide are able to launder hundreds of millions of anonymous dollars for attack ads. Their vehicles are corporate front groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Karl Rove’s American Crossroads and the Koch brothers’ Americans For Prosperity.
But don’t expect to read about this in newspapers. The major media is owned by the same corporations now buying our elections.
Where is the outrage? The outrage is being channeled against scapegoat reformers. With skills perfected on the battlegrounds of consumer advertising, the corporate propagandists are masters at shaping public opinion. They are especially skilled at feeding grassroots fear and anger and directing it against those who stand in their way. And they own the information airways and information highways.
The “fifth estate” has become a “fifth column” being used to replace democracy with corporate rule.
