General Election: A case for re-electing John Armstrong

Published 9:36 am Friday, October 29, 2010

In the time I’ve lived here, I’ve become aware of the function of the PUD and the role John Armstrong played and still plays in providing water and internet service to our county. He is now running for re-election to a position in an “organization” few people actually understand. They just take good water for granted and think that the cable and phone companies are the only access to the internet.

John has taken the lead on upgrading the water system in the north part of the county. He has pushed to get better water pressure for Indianola and is overseeing the laying of pipeline from Seabeck to Port Gamble to ensure adequate water for the future.

The PUD had the foresight to lay fiber optic cable to bring high speed internet to us all. Unfortunately, they cannot legally sell the service to us as individuals, but are actively seeking to partner with companies or agencies that can.

The way I see it is we have a great commissioner in John, and electing someone else with limited civilian experience just to change for the sake of change is the wrong thing to do. Let’s stay with the person who has the respect of the pubic and agencies he works with, and has proved time and time again that he holds the public interest at the top of his priorities.
