Health care: The Constitution is under attack

Published 11:02 am Monday, April 12, 2010

Hi, Dad. Your 74-year-old son wants to thank you and your fellow veterans who sacrificed so much in defense of this country and the Constitution of the United States of America.

Now the Constitution, which so many have fought and died for, is under attack by our own elected representatives in Congress and the White House. What I’m talking about is the passing of an indecipherable 2,780-page health care bill that most people don’t want. Our congressmen told us, “It will be good for us and we will learn to like it,” and so defiantly passed it into law, shredding the Constitution in the process. And that’s just the beginning. I’m sorry, dad, but that’s what’s happening and I apologize.

But I promise to do more than apologize. I swear to you I’ll do everything I can, under the law, to right this wrong. As you and I both know, the Constitution will survive only as long as it lives in the hearts and minds of the American people. And it’s up to us and each generation to fight to preserve and protect it for our children and grandchildren.

I’m on it, Pop.
