Poulsbo police thanks the community

In the wake of the terrible tragedies suffered by police departments in Seattle, Lakewood and surrounding areas, we had numerous citizens stop by our office to express their sympathies and appreciation for the work that our officers and staff perform. The kind words and gestures were truly touching and appreciated.

The Poulsbo Police Department is continuously working toward establishing progressive crime prevention initiatives that unite residents, businesses and police. One of our goals for 2010 is to have more active Neighborhood Watch Programs. If you are interested in learning about Neighborhood Watch Programs, call (360) 779-3113 or stop by our office at 367 NE Hostmark Street.

Save the date: The Police Department will hold its second annual National Night Out Against Crime event Tuesday, Aug. 3. The event will be from 4-8 p.m. in Waterfront Park/Anderson Parkway in Poulsbo. It will be a fun and informative family event. Look for more detailed information as the date draws near.

Did you know that our Citizen Volunteer group is available to perform vacation nouse checks while Poulsbo residents are out of town? Call or stop by our office if you are in need of this service. To learn more about all the services offered by the Police Department please visit our Web site at www.cityofpoulsbo.com and click on the police link.

During the past few months various strategies within the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving model have been put into place to better serve our community. The city has been divided into three sectors with specific officers assigned to each one. This will enable the officers to get to know the residents and businesses within his or her designated area. In addition to handling calls for service and fighting crime, officers will focus heavily on crime prevention and any other quality of life concerns. Whenever you see our officers about town, please approach them with any questions, concerns or ideas you might have, or just to say hi.

We look forward to a positive, productive year and the opportunity to serve the people who live, work, play and shop in the City of Poulsbo.
