Elizabeth Tobin Fitzmaurice

Elizabeth (Betty) Tobin Fitzmaurice died Dec. 13 at Providence Mt. St. Vincent Care Center in West Seattle. She died of complications from congestive heart failure.

She was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Seattle, to Robert E. Tobin and Marguerite L. Tobin. She graduated from Holy Names Academy, attended Seattle University and shortly thereafter went to work for Dr. Bertrand T. Fitzmaurice. In 1939, she married her boss and they enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. They were blessed with five children: Kathleen Stroh (Steve) Tom Fitzmaurice (Nancy) Peggy O’Keefe (Neil) Molly Frazier and Ann Forbes (Micchael). Bertand and Elizabeth shared 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bertrand in January 2000. Of her seven siblings, she is survived by her brother Robert Tobin of Seattle. she had a passion for oil and water color painting, gardening, cooking and volunteering in her church, Seattle Prep and Seattle University auxiliaries. She was also very involved in Bible Study Fellowships.

One of the highlights of her life, that her children fondly remember, was her delight in preparing for the Christmas holiday gatherings for family and friends. Bert and Elizabeth also enjoyed being involved with St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Poulsbo WA where they moved to in 1966. Prior to that time, they lived on Capitol Hill.
