Frances Louise Witherspoon

Frances Louise Witherspoon of Eglon died Nov. 26 after a brief illness. She was 94.

She was born May 22, 1915, in Lynn, Mass., to Charles and Caroline Flagg. After completing business college, she continued her education and became a registered nurse serving six years in the US Army on hospital ships during WWII. During the war she met Alexander Witherspoon, a Merchant Marine from North Haven, Maine, and in 1950 they married. She held various positions as a nurse throughout the community and later retired from Harborview Medical Center, after 25 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander, her brother Weldon, her sister Marguerite, and nephew Alan.

Witherspoon is survived by three daughters: Elizabeth (David) Rentola, Catherine (Timothy) Ulin, and Virginia (Jerry) Ungren; three grandchildren: Angela (James) Nungesser, Serena Ungren (Bill Clark), and Caroline (Ryan) Stockman; seven great-grandchildren: Brendan, Makayla, Alexandra, Ashleigh, Caitlynn, Kelsey, and Samantha; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 18 in the Pearson Fellowship Hall at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo.
