Delays and closures to occur on Hood Canal Bridge

SHINE – Work along the east half of the newly reopened Hood Canal Bridge will cause nighttime delays for drivers this week, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced in a press release.
Temporary concrete barriers need to be placed, meaning motorists can expect one-way, alternating traffic and delays of up to 15 minutes between midnight Thursday, June 11 and 3 a.m. Friday, June 12.
The barriers will provide safe access to work zones from construction crews still working at the bridge’s east approach span.
Bicyclists will need to use extra caution in this area as shoulders will temporarily be reduced from eight feet to approximately two feet, the release states.
Intermittent east- and westbound shoulder closures are also scheduled between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. June 9-12 on the east truss and between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. June 13-19 on the west truss.
