John J. Irven Sr.

John J. Irven Sr. died April 21 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was 85.

He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada July 23, 1923, to John J. Irven and Mary Agness Craig.

Irven married Thelma F. Irven (Wilcox) of Bainbridge Island, on Aug. 29, 1948, in Crawford Park, Verdun, Quebec Canada.

His nearly 30-year career was spent in the pension and health insurance field in Canada and the United States.

He was the assistant vice president with Marsh and McLennan of Seattle. Irven later became the owner and broker of the Poulsbo Real-estate.

He served during World War II with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Aircrew pathfinders.

Irven is survived by his wife, Thelma F. Irven; his son John J. Irven Jr. (Nancy) of Bainbridge Island; daughter Carol Irven Iglesias (Jose) of Locust Grove, Va.; grandchildren Lance J. Irven of Missoula, Mont., and Anna Iglesias of Locust Grove, Va.; and sister Diane Wadman and her husband Bruce of Salona Beach, Calif.

At his request, no services will be held.
