A late-night, single-vehicle collision in South Kitsap has resulted in the death of the driver.
Olalla resident Raymer Syril Wolf, 43, was declared dead at the scene of an accident that occurred around 11:10 p.m. Saturday, investigators said.
Kitsap County Sheriff’s patrol and traffic deputies, along with engine and medic units from South Kitsap Fire & Rescue, responded to the crash scene in the 10800 block of Orchard Avenue SE, approximately one-quarter mile south of SE Willock Road, in the Olalla area of South Kitsap.
Although the investigation is still on-going, traffic investigators report that a 1997 Toyota Avalon, driven by Wolf, was traveling southbound on Orchard Avenue.
The vehicle crossed the centerline of the road into the northbound lane of travel and then left the paved portion of the roadway on the east shoulder. The vehicle struck five trees and a utility pole before re-entering the roadway and coming to a stop.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Excessive vehicle speed and the consumption of alcoholic intoxicants appear to be possible factors in the cause of the collision, authorities say.
Driver impairment will be determined pending toxicology results.
The Kitsap County Coroner will make a determination as to cause and manner of death.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Deputy Ken Dickinson, Sheriff’s Traffic Unit, at (360) 337-4634.
