Martha Charles, 83, of Little Boston died in her home Feb. 7.
She was born July 7, 1925, at Point Julia to Ed and Irene Purser, both of Little Boston.
Charles worked at the Pope and Talbot Saw Mill, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Martha & Mary Care Center. She enjoyed getting out and shopping at yard sales and hitting the thrift stores or “just cruising.”
She enjoyed working her puzzle books, watching “Wheel of Fortune,” “Cops,” and wrestling.
Charles loved family gatherings and having company in her home.
Her most precious moments were spending time at her home with her grandson Zach and her dog.
Charles is survived by her two brothers, Aaron and Rudolph Purser, both of Little Boston; sister Ann Anderson of Little Boston; daughters Mary Trevathan and Carolyn Charles of Little Boston, Eileen Charles of Quilcene; and son Leroy Charles of Little Boston. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents Ed and Irene; her husband Herbert Charles Sr.; son Herbert Charles Jr.; three sisters: Jane Laub of Bremerton, Vera Anderson of Little Boston and Stella Carpenter of Bremerton; two brothers: Stan and Bud Purser of Little Boston; and one great-great granddaughter, Maria Hernandez of Little Boston.
A visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Feb. 13 with a funeral service to follow at the Port Gamble Tribal Gym in Kingston.
Interment will follow at the Tribal Cemetery.
