Richard Kent Daniels, 57, of Shady Cove Ore., died after a short illness on Jan. 28 at his home in Shady Cove. Daniels was born on Aug. 21, 1951, in
Poulsbo to Howard Daniels and Marian Ryen Daniels.
Daniels graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1969 and joined the U.S. Army. While in the Army he met and married Renee Boehm in Reno Nev., making their first home in Monterey, Calif. After leaving the Army in 1974 he returned to his home town of Poulsbo with his wife and worked at
Keyport Naval Submarine Base. Daniels took up carpet laying and went to work for floor decorators in Bremerton along with running his own business, Just Floors. In 1983 he and his wife, Renee, had their one and only child, and the joy of his life, Adam. In 1994 their family moved to Shady Cove to go to work for his father in law.
Daniels enjoyed his family, his animals and his friends. The past few years he has raised Barbados sheep and he loved being a “shepherd.” He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and two special dogs, Jason and Aspen.
He is survived by his wife, Renee, of Shady Cove; son Adam of Riverside Calif.; and his dog Ozzy. He is also survived by his three sisters, Sharon (Vern) Lightbody of Spokane; Judy (Bud) Wilkinson of Oak Harbor; Sue Daniels of Poulsbo; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no services held at this time, but he will be missed by many family and friends both here and away. Please make any memorials in the memory of Daniesl to the Kitsap Humane Society.
