New artists in Old Town

Think of it as a treasure hunt. The Old Town Silverdale Art Walk provides the opportunity to stroll about the “original†Silverdale, finding beautiful artwork from new artists in businesses you might not have known about. From wine merchants and bead boutiques to bookstores and pastry purveyors, businesses in Old Town will be open late for the Art Walk, which runs from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 8.
As well as the chance to check out art and get a little fresh air, several businesses involved in the Art Walk are offering instore promotions, from free roses and cookies to sale prices on merchandise.
The Art Walk is free, and maps are available at all locations on the walk. There are nine venues and 12 artists participating in the official Art Walk, with seven independent businesses or galleries also showing work.
Businesses participating in the Art Walk are:
1. Jeanette’s Old Town Flowers, 3343 NW Byron: Gerrie Austin and Hanna Willis.
2. Pages Book Store, 3388 NW Byron: Lindsay French.
3. Renaldo & Co., 9216 Bayshore Dr.: Zoot Photography.
4. Linda’s Knit & Stitch, 9361 Bayshore Dr.: Rick Warfield.
5. Monica’s Waterfront Bakery, 3472 NW Byron: Michael Williams, Steve Brixey and Carol Caldwell.
6. Care Solutions: Brittany Harris.
7. Sass with Class, 9130 Washington NW: Meaghan Menth.
8. The Backdoor Gallery at Two Bits Barbershop, 3332 NW Lowell: Don Evans.
9. Grape Expectations, 3594 NW Byron: Cheryl Keyes.
In addition to the juried artists showing at the businesses participating in Art Walk, seven addiction businesses and galleries will be open with work on display.
They are:
1. Monart School of Art: Student art.
2. Inner Winds: Diane Denslow, Xavier Mallard.
3. A Company of Friends: Featured artists.
4. KM Designs: Custom jewelry.
5. Old Town Silverdale Barbershop: David Burdick.
6. The Bead Garden: Work by staff.
7. McGregor and Co.: Featured artist.
Promotions on the tour are free roses from Jeanette’s Old Town Flowers, 25 percent off purchases at Pages Books, 10 percent off purchases (6-8 p.m only) at The Bead Garden, and a free cookie at Monica’s Waterfront Bakery for every food bank item donated.
The Old Town area is reached by going south past the Kitsap Mall on Silverdale Way and turning left at the light onto NW Byron Drive, or from NW Bucklin Hill Road turn onto Bayshore Drive at the head of Dyes Inlet.
The Old Town Art Walk is free and suitable for art lovers of all ages.
