There’ll be plenty of fooling around

The Admiral Theatre has done an admirable job this season of providing an entertainment schedule that has something for everyone, with Chinese acrobats, energetic fiddlers, a Groucho Marx impersonator and a drag queen ballet troupe, just to name a few highlights.
The performance set for April 1 continues the fun, and is a perfect choice for April Fool’s Day.
Cirkus Inferno features clowns (but not the scary kind) on roller skates, fast-paced slapstick comedy and things that blow up.
The show is appropriate for children of all ages. The fun begins when Lucky and Lady, “the world’s most dangerous clowns,†show up for a performance of the fictitious Daredevil Opera Company’s Cirkus Inferno, only to find the show has been cancelled.
What to do with a theater full of props and gags meant to thrill and amaze? Get into trouble, of course.
Over the course of the show the pair try out Rocket Johnny’s Rocket Pogo and Roxanne Roll’s Jet Skates, get tied to the Hound of Hades and end up in Hula Lula’s grass skirt and ukulele.
Their antics are accentuated by live cartoon sound effects, pyrotechnic effects (things that blow up), and lots of sight gags that have left audiences rolling in the aisles around the world.
One Australian reviewer noted, “A word of warning: the explosions are loud, the pyrotechnics dangerously spectacular and the stunts and action very physically exhausting to watch. And the overall laughs are side splittingly hilarious.â€
After a show like that, everyone will be ready to go home and take naps — once the adrenalin wears off.
Cirkus Inferno appears 7 p.m. April 1 at the Admiral Theatre, 515 Pacific Ave., Bremerton.
