Poulsbo’s ‘Pride’ is doing grand

The Poulsbo Noon Lions. When these men and women roar, it’s tough not to notice. In the past few years, the projects the group has shouldered have been nothing short of remarkable.
While some civic organizations might have rested on their laurels after completing an ambitious and world renowned boardwalk renovation, the Lions were pacing the prideland for something else to do. Don’t these folks sleep?
Last weekend, just days after the North Kitsap Viking LEO Club was honored with the 2005 Award of Excellence, the Lions were on the prowl again —upgrading dilapidated playground equipment at American Legion Park.
Anyone who has witnessed the ongoing battle against ivy and blackberries and the headway made at American Legion during the last five years will surely agree that bringing the playground up to snuff was long overdue. The restless Lions couldn’t even wait until spring weather arrived before pouncing on this one.
But working in the wind and rain is old hat to these folks, who braved the elements and then some to fix the rotting boardwalk.
Yes, the Lions truly put the pride in Poulsbo and we are thankful for it.
